Chris Broome-Smith

It is much
sadness that I have to announce the passing away of Chris
Broome-Smith who died suddenly in early November from a
heart attack.
Our thoughts are obviously with his family at this sad time.
I know some of you will be wanting to pass on your
condolences direct, but please can I implore you not to ring
his wife at the moment as it has been a massive shock to
those close to him. If you would like to send a card or
condolences, please let me know and I’ll pass on the
address.
As you may imagine, I am quite upset as CBS was a good
friend and a man I was somewhat in awe of when I first
joined the Medieval Siege Society. Chris's contribution over
the years is quite frankly incalculable. He served our
society ceaselessly since it's inception in 1993 and was our
Chairman until handing the baton on to me, and after a
year's break came back to the committee as Company Secretary
- for which I have been eternally grateful ever since.
But most of all I shall miss his clever humour, his dry wit
and a shared love of BBC Radio 4 Comedy....
Rest assured the MSS will be making an appropriate tribute
to one of the people who made us what we are today.
He will be sadly missed.
