1781 Jersey Militia

The 1781 Jersey Militia recreates the 4th Regiment, 2nd Battalion (St Lawrence) which comprised men of the West of St. Helier and St. Lawrence.

The unit was formed in 2000 and received its uniforms in early 2001. The Artillery detachment of Six cannon forms the center of the unit.  We have taken our date and strap line from the Battle of Jersey which occurred on the 6th January 1781.

We hold six events at Elizabeth Castle for Jersey Heritage Trust comprising of musket and cannon demonstrations.  Two, twenty one gun salutes for both the Queens real and official birthday’s, one of which is held at Government House as well as six other events to do with the history of the Jersey Militia and the Battle of Jersey.  We have also visited sites in the US and the UK.

We are always pleased to see visiting fellow re-enactors.
